His Excellency the Minister Visits the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi
His Excellency the Minister, Shaikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Ashaikh, and his accompanying delegation, visited, today the Grand Mosque of the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. Upon his arrival at the Mosque, His Excellency was received by Yousef Al Obaidli, Director-General of the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center, Mohammad Saeed Al Neyadi, Director-General of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Omar Al Darei, Executive Director of Islamic Affairs, and Khaled Muhammad Seif Al Neyadi, the Executive Director of Endowment Matters at the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments. His Excellency wandered about the Mosque, which is one of the remarkable Islamic landmarks in the UAE capital. He listened to a detailed explanation about the stages of building the Mosque and its facilities, which is considered the sixth largest Mosque in the world, with an area of 412,22 square meters. At the end of his visit, His Excellency the Minister Dr. Abdullatif Ashaikh praised the Mosque and its beautiful architectural style, as well as the huge fittings with which it is equipped, noting that Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one of the signs of the era, demonstrates the care and attention by the UAE leaders to build and take care of mosques. It is worth noting that the project of building the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque was commenced at the outset of 1987, when Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan ordered to build the Mosque in 1986. The construction work of the Mosque was completed in March 2008. The Mosque contains an international library for conferences that includes three thousand topics, distributed to different Scholarly and cultural fields, in more than twelve international languages.
